Epic 4G OTA specifics [From the Forums]

Sprint already announced that they will be rolling out another maintenance release update for the Epic 4G, starting today.  It wasn't too long ago that we saw an update, so it's good to see Sprint staying on the ball with this one.  As promised, Sprint has released the change log (after the break) and it looks good.  Most major concerns are being addressed, and hopefully everyone can get back to enjoying their Epic 4G's instead of fighting the bugs.  Any of you guys got your OTA yet?  Sing out in the Epic 4G forums! HP: homebrew apps for webOS are OK with us!

Filed under:

One thing I love about my Palm Pre is that I'm able to run homebrew apps without performing any firmware surgery on it. Thanks to Preware (et al) the apps are easy to find, easy to install, and a select few, like Internalz, have become some of my most-used.

I'm not the only one who seems to like homebrew apps. HP, it turns out, thinks they're pretty cool, too. They agree with a recent post from Palm's Tim Stiffler-Dean that there are great apps to be had from sources other than the App Catalog. So, where else can you look for your next favorite webOS app? Check out PreCentral's App Gallery, appSpotlight, and appScoop (which contains beta apps that Palm doesn't push to the App Catalog).

I can't imagine Apple ever singing the praises of an app that's only available in Cydia, can you?

Google Translate now understands Latin

"Ut munimenta linguarum convellamus et scientiam mundi patentem utilemque faciamus, instrumenta convertendi multarum nationum linguas creavimus!" exclaims the introduction of a Google Blog post. Don't worry if you don't understand it, though, because Google Translate now understands Latin!

The entire post is written in Latin, so of course, you have to copy and paste it into Google Translate to read it! Once you've done that, the usual machine-translated gems await!

My favourite phrase is right at the end: Ingeniarius Programmandi, which means Senior Engineer! I might have to put that on my LinkedIn profile...

My Thoughts on the Motorola Droid X After One Month

It’s been 30 days since I terminated my contract with AT&T, ditched the iPhone 4, signed up with Verizon and purchased a Droid X. For the most part, the move has been a good one. Verizon’s call quality and 3G coverage in my area are significantly better than AT&T. But has the transition been all [...]

Jaguar C-X75 is the 780bhp electric supercar we've all been waiting for, likely to keep us waiting (video)

Ouch! It really stings to see the curvaceous spectacles that car designers can come up with, only to then find out the resulting electric speedsters are either far too expensive or nowhere near becoming a reality. Latest in this group of four-wheeled objects of desire is Jaguar's C-X75, which roars from 0 to 60mph in 3.4 seconds, cranks out 780bhp courtesy of a quartet of electric motors and a pair of micro gas turbines, and reaches a screaming 205mph at its absolute zenith. You can go for 68 miles just on electric juice or 560 if you let the gasworks recharge the Li-ion battery pack on the go. So it's gorgeous inside and out, it comes with swan doors, high-res LCD screens and an aluminum body, and it has less chance of being on sale than a dodo sandwich. Yep, it's an electric supercar alright. See the C-X75 on video after the break.

How fast is the G2 on HSPA+?

 T-Mobile G2 speed test

The up side to being the first kid on your block with an HSPA+ device? You get stupidly mad speeds on the T-Mobile G2. This comes not from our boy Jeremy Sikora's G2, but from an anonymous tipster (geographically unknown as well as anonymous in name), so you can argue the validity all you want. And, no, it's not like the browser's going to be processing pages at that speed. But downloads, well, that's another story. Have at it, folks. Thanks, anonymous!
